Anvil of the Wastes

A boss-killing siege platform with harpoons to lock targets down and mortars to break them.

Forgemaster 8 hours ago 2.7k views Patch 0.9.x EA

Overview

Built to break bosses

The Anvil is a specialist. Where the Mk VII duels other players, the Anvil exists to pin and grind down the big PvE world bosses that roam the deep wastes.

The Harpoon Launcher is the centerpiece: tether the target, stop it kiting, then unload twin autocannons and dual flak into the exposed core. Storm Shutters let you ride out the boss's area phases without losing your guns.

Bring a friend or a tight crew — the Anvil is slow, and a tethered boss will turn and focus you hard.

Pros & Cons

Strengths

  • + Harpoon lockdown trivializes mobile bosses
  • + Huge effective HP with reactive layering
  • + Mortars hit through cover
  • + Storm Shutters survive AoE phases

Weaknesses

  • Very slow and expensive
  • Harpoon micromanagement has a learning curve
  • Weak vs. fast skirmishers
  • Power-hungry weapon loadout

How to build it

  1. 1Build a standard Dreadnought front: Heavy Bulkheads plus Reactive Plating, two layers.
  2. 2Mount the Harpoon Launcher high and central with the best sightline you can give it.
  3. 3Flank it with the Twin Autocannons and two Flak Cannons.
  4. 4Add the Reinforced Hull underneath to counter burrowing bosses.
  5. 5Place the Med Bay and Gunner Posts inside the armor shell.
  6. 6Fit Storm Shutters last so you can armor up during AoE phases.
